ONE LINE COMMUNITY
"THE LINE THAT CONNECT AND GROW TOGETHER"
PROJECT OVERVIEW
This project aims to create architecture RESILIENT TO CHANGE — a FLEXIBLE, inclusive community center that adapts to evolving social and environmental needs. Inspired by the railway’s connective nature, it links education, health, and social spaces along a linear path. Through modular design, passive systems, and local materials, the center fosters community RESILIENCE, SUSTAINABILITY, and shared growth over time.
SITE LOCATION
A community center near a vulnerable slum area in Phnom Penh, beside a railway that separates formal and informal neighborhoods. Instead of treating the railway as a barrier, the design transforms it into a symbol of connection and resilience. The linear layout organizes spaces like “stations” — classrooms, counseling rooms, gardens, play areas, and gathering zones — linked by flexible, open circulation that encourages interaction and adaptability.
CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT
DESIGN PRINCIPLE
Our project primarily advances SDG 3, 4, 8, 10, 11, and 12 by promoting health, education, livelihoods, inclusion, and sustainable communities. Additionally, it supports SDG 13 and 15 through eco-friendly strategies like rainwater collection, passive cooling, and integrating greenery that strengthens climate action and urban biodiversity.
